January 6, 2014 - Welcome to Milford's 375th year!  Honorary Chair, Mayor Benjamin Blake and Committee Chair Bob Gregory presided over a festive kick off on Monday, January 6th at 7:30 PM at Milford City Hall. Highlights included   unveiling of our anniversary logo! [ more ]

Wednesday, February 12 - 7:00 PM - Milford City Hall - Join us as we commemorate the purchase of Milford. A Volunteer Social will follow.


Growin' Up in Milford

Friday, March 28, 2014 at 7 PM - Please join us as life-long resident and local history expert Dave Gregory takes us on a nostalgic tour of mid-century Milford in this program of stories and slides about Milford in the '40s through the early '60s. This program will be presented at the First United Church of Christ, Congregational, 34 West Main Street. Free and open to the public, with refreshments! [ more ]

Kentucky Derby Party!

Saturday, May 3, 2014, 4:00-7:00PM - Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Ave. The Milford Arts Council invites you to attend the 4th Annual "Run for the Roses" Fundraiser. Watch the most exciting two minutes in sports on a giant screen! Fabulous Hat Contest, 50/50 Raffle and other games. Auction items to include: fine art, wines, cocktail cruise and more. Garden Club May Market

Saturday, May 10th, 8:30-11:30 AM - Fowler Pavillion, 57 New Haven Ave (behind the Milford Public Library).  We will have perennials from members gardens, annuals, tomatoes, Master Gardeners to answer all your questions, quirky fun crafts for sale, our yummy home baked goods table  and quite a few surprises. Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk

Saturday, May 17th, Registration: 9:00 AM,  Walk: 10:00 AM. Walnut Beach. This benefit walk for the Lustgarten Foundation increases funding for research and raises awareness for pancreatic cancer and also serves as a wonderful celebration of the progress being made in the fight against this disease, and your important participation provides hope for the future. Milford and the Congregational (or Puritan) Way

Friday, May 30th, 7:00 - 8:00 PM - First United Church of Christ, 34 West Main Street. This is the first in a series of lectures sponsored by the First Church's 375th Anniversary Committee commemorating the 1639 simultaneous founding of the congregation and the establishment of the settlement as a Theocracy. The speaker will be Rev. John van Epps, an archivist for the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ (UCC). Rev. van Epps maintains the Conference Library and preserves records of the state's more than 250 congregations of the UCC. Free event; All welcome! Downtown Milford Farmers' Market

Saturday, May 31st, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM - 58 River Street. Join us as we kickoff our 8th consecutive year! The Downtown Milford Farmers' Market promises to be bigger and better than ever while providing something for every taste and interest! The Market will run every Saturday through October 11th. Through the Looking Glass: Celebrating Early Milford Families

Saturday May 31st & Sunday June 1st, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - 34 High Street. The Milford Historical Society will resume public tours of its three 18th century houses beginning Saturday, May 31st and continuing every Saturday and Sunday through October 13th. This summer's exhibit in observance of the town's 375th Anniversary will feature furnishings, paintings, documents, etc., from early settlers. The Society also has a collection of Native American artifacts found locally, and this collection is included in the house tours. Visitors to the sites' herb gardens are welcome at any time. Celebration Week Kick Off!

Friday, June 6th, 6:00 PM - Milford City Hall. Mayor Ben Blake opens Celebration Week with a proclamation on the steps of City Hall. Then, join us as we march Downtown to Funky Dawgz Brass Band leading us pied-piper style to a party at Stonebridge Restaurant.

Beth-El Center Light Up The Harbor

Saturday, June 7th, 6:00 - 11:00 PM - Milford Yacht Club. 131 Trumbull Ave. This annual Spring Gala is one of the primary sources of income for Milford's own Beth-El Center. Attendees will enjoy dinner, music, entertainment and both live and silent auctions! Tickets are $100 per person. Enjoy a festive evening while helping the homeless in our community. [ more ]

Milford Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Service

Sunday, June 8th, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM - Milford Green. Pay respects and enjoy various fire apparatus as the Milford Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual Memorial Service and Muster on the Green and beyond


Founding Church Tour

Sunday, June 8th, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM - First United Church of Christ. 34 West Main Street. The 375th Anniversary Committee of Milford's First Church will host a docent-guided tour of the Church. The congregation is commemorating the simultaneous founding church and the establishment of the town as a Theocracy in 1639. The one-hour tours are free and open to the public. Please note that some rooms are accessible only by stairs. Call 203-878-4155 for more information, however, there is no need to RSVP.

Diversity Day: Claude C. Coffin Indian Collection

Tuesday, June 10th, 1:00 - 4:00 PM - 34 High Street. Milford Diversity Day starts here! The Milford Historical Society will celebrate the town's 375th Anniversary "Diversity Day" on Tuesday, June 10 when visitors are invited to view the "Claude C. Coffin Indian Collection" from 1 to 4 p.m. at its headquarters at 34 High St. There is no admission. [ more ]

Day of Caring and Sharing

Wednesday, June 11th, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM - United Way of Milford.  Open up your heart and your pocketbook and show that Milford cares. United Way of Milford volunteers will be ready to take your calls from 10am – 5pm at 203-874-6791 to show support for your favorite charity.  Donations in amounts of 375 and 1639 would be appropriate but any amount will help.  Where you put the decimal point depends on how much you care and how much you can afford.  Show that Milford is really the small city with a big heart!


Local Author Day and Writers Slam

Wednesday, June 11th - Milford Public Library. Various local authors are available for a signing leading into an evening of storytelling by unpublished writers.


Dance to the Oldies

Thursday, June 12th, 9:00 AM - City Hall. We show our appreciation for municipal government welcoming back our former Mayors, along with Mayor Blake, to speak with our Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts about Milford’s past, present and future followed by a tour of City departments.


Milford Yacht Club Race

Thursday, June 12th, 6:30 PM - Milford Yacht Club. Grab a blanket and settle in on the sand to watch the Thursday Night Races.

Music on the Harbor

Saturday, June 14th, 3:00 - 9:30 PM - Lisman Landing. Listen to the music of the Sapphire Band at 3:00 followed by Dr B and the Brotherhood at 6:30. Enjoy a feast of food trucks including The Local Meatball, Melt Mobile, BRYAC Shuck Truck and LobsterCraft as well as sample some local CT craft beer and wine.
